Biography

People's Artist Lý Kim Tuyền (24 February 1942 - 22 October 2020), better known as Lý Huỳnh (Chinese: 李黃), was a Vietnamese actor, director, producer and stunt choreographer. Formerly an accomplished boxer and accredited martial arts trainer for the South Vietnamese army, he transitioned into acting in the early 70s and achieved critical acclaim for his role as the repentant ARVN captain Long in "Whirlwind Season"(Mùa gió chướng)[1978] by Nguyễn Hồng Sến. In 1990s of the Southern Vietnamese instant noodle films industry, he inaugurated his own studio and produced a variety of action and crime thrillers, occasionally collaborating with Hong Kong studios; he was one of the era's highest-grossing filmmakers and the first to introduce martial arts choreography into commercial Vietnamese cinema.
