Biography

Pieter Jelles Troelstra (Leeuwarden, April 20, 1860 – The Hague, May 12, 1930) was a Dutch poet, lawyer, journalist, and politician. He became known as the socialist leader who, in November 1918, following the upheaval in Germany, wanted to proclaim a socialist revolution in the Netherlands. In addition, Troelstra gained great fame in Friesland as a Frisian writer and poet.
